Allen-Vanguard Counter Threat Solutions (AVCTS) are located in the UK and US and have extensive experience within the fields of explosive safety and management, EOD, IEDD and Countering Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) as well as Open Source Intelligence (OSINT).

AVCTS experience and ability in the area of C-IED, EOD and IEDD is proven. AVCTS have been NATO’s sole contractor for expert C-IED advice since 2006, providing consultancy and training up to at national level to meet operational capability requirements. As part of the NATO programme, AVCTS has designed, developed and delivered a full range of C-IED related courses and packages, deploying personnel into high threat theatres when required.  These courses have been planned in such a way as to ensure capability development by gradually, through instruction and subsequent mentoring, enabling the recipient nation or organisation to be able to undertake delivery themselves.  AVCTS continues to provide advisory missions and to work with NATO and partner nations at as part of NATO’s C-IED Programme.

AVCTS are already a pre-qualified training services provider for UNOPS Mine Action Cluster in the areas of: EOD (IMAS L3); IED Defeat; IED Awareness; and bespoke IED courses.  AVCTS are currently providing IEDD Training into Western Africa on behalf of UNOPS.

AVCTS have designed and developed explosive management and safety training courses based on International Ammunition Technical Guidelines as well as UK national legislation and currently deliver training to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (dstl) an agency of the UK Ministry of Defence, further evidence and recognition of AVCTS’ expertise and training capacity.

All AVCTS technical efforts are underpinned by the AVCTS Threat Intelligence and Analysis department which owns and manages TRITON®, one of the world’s largest open source databases for incidents recording terrorist and related activity.  This department comprises experienced intelligence analysts and native speaking linguists who also focus their skills and experience onto subjects such as civil unrest, violent crime and non-violent protest. Intelligence products and services can be tailored to an individual’s requirement and can consist of threat alerts, technical reporting, statistical assessment and monthly summaries, amongst other timely services and OSINT training. AVCTS offer a customised fully interactive online Portal to customers who wish to visually see mapped data, interrogate their own datasets and build up their own online archive of AVCTS reports.

AVCTS are an approved International City & Guilds (IC&G) training centre. The IC&G accreditation process includes formal external validation of AVCTS course syllabi, training methodology, test and assessment criteria, internal quality processes and feedback actions.  AVCTS are members of the Institute of Explosive Engineers (IExpE), the U.K. Explosive Standard Setting Board (ESSB), and EUExcert, a European organisation responsible for producing a framework for vocational education of people in the European explosives sector.

AVCTS has a proven capacity for both the development and delivery of EOD and IEDD training courses at all levels of competence in both permissive and non-permissive environments. We offer training solutions and intelligence services that provide individuals the underpinning knowledge, skills and confidence based on international standards, doctrine and best practice, to fulfil customer requirements, safely and competently.
