Dassault Aviation SA Defence

Dassault Aviation Defence is a France-based company that operates in the global civil and military aviation industry. The Company specializes in the design, manufacture and sale of combat aircraft and executive jets. Its portfolio of military and defence products includes the Falcon family, Mirage 2000 and Rafale jet fighter aircraft. In addition, Dassault Aviation SA also offers spare parts, tools and a range of services, such as technical support, maintenance and repair of airframe equipment and parts.

Multi-mission Falcon900

The family of Falcon 900 executes a wide variety of military and maritime missions. Building on fifty years of experience and expertise in Aero-maritime operations the FALCON 900 MPA encompasses superior technologies in the fields of airframe, avionics, engines and embedded mission systems.

The FALCON 900 MPA is a land based, fixed wing high performance aircraft with a multi-mission capability. The mission system incorporates state-of-the-art sensors and avionics necessary to efficiently carry out mission critical assignments. FALCON 900 features a very light maintenance footprint, and has a very high dispatch reliability, the aircraft can be rapidly deployed to operating bases where it can be operated without need for Ground Support Equipment and ground crew. The aircraft has further benefits such as: longer range and endurance, higher cruise altitude and the ability to perform mission patrols at medium or a high altitude, thus dramatically increasing the surveyed areas in a shorter time.

Key military missions:

  • Monitoring of littoral approaches
  • Support to the fleet
  • Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW)
  • Anti Surface Unit Warfare (ASUW)
  • Target acquisition and reconnaissance (OTHT)
  • Intelligence Gathering.

Rafale Jet Fighter

The origins of the Rafale can be traced to joint discussions in the 80s between a number of European nations and in the wake of the tri-national Tornado program, it emerged that the French Forces wanted to conceive an air-to-air side balanced multi-role combat aircraft that would be able to replace 7 types of aircraft around 2000-2010.

During recent operations the Rafale has exhibited a remarkable rate of survivability on account of its optimised airframe and high carrying capability. With Rafale’s range of smart and discrete sensors the aircraft is capable of performing multiple functions at the same time such as; beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air firing during the very-low-altitude penetration phase.

The Rafale is equipped with a superior new Modular Data Processing Unit which is highly adaptable. It is composed of up to 18 flight line-replaceable modules, each with a processing power 50 times higher than that of the 2084 XRI type computer which were fitted on the early versions of Mirage 2000-5.

The most important sensor of the Rafale is the new generation THALES RBE2 radar with its active electronically scanned array (AESA). The Rafale AESA radar is the most advanced fighter radar in its category and the future of Air Defence. The AESA brings superior detection and tracking range, electronic scanning agility and the ability to track targets in or out of the search domain, and very high resolution ground mapping with synthetic aperture radar modes. The Rafale AESA radar also allows very low altitude flying above uncharted terrain in autopilot-coupled modes in blind conditions.

State of the Art Multi-Sensor data fusion technology onboard the Rafale provides a key link between the aircraft’s battle space and the pilot's brain - the pilot is fully able to grasp the consequences of a tactical situation and make sensible decisions, therefore the pilot becomes a true tactical decider on mission critical assignments.

Mirage 2000

Deployed in many operational theatres, the Mirage 2000 has become a world reference in terms of availability, maintenance and evolution. Its interoperability with NATO aircraft and its efficiency are combat proven.

Mirage 2000 offers many advantages in terms of overall ownership costs and performance, the multi-role concept has been retained for the evolution of the Mirage 2000 family. The quality and the safety of its modular flight control system, as well as its ease of maintenance raised this aircraft to the top in its category.

Built around a modular and highly adaptive architecture, the Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 system is based on high performance internal sensors such as: the RDY 2 radar manufactured by the Thales company is a latest-generation look-up / look-down long-range radar. Its ability to switch automatically in the detection, tracking and fire-control modes makes it unrivalled for air-to-air missions.

Military customer support

At Dassault Aviation, "military support" encompasses all human and material activities and resources implemented to maintain aircraft and optimise their operational use.

The support system includes:

  • Operational availability,
  • Rapidity and the ease of preparing missions
  • Management of operations,
  • Training pilots,
  • Training mechanics,
  • Maintenance and upkeep of aircraft
